The rancho was the main house in which the family lived for a long time before they built the other buildings around it. The windows were used to see outside in case of an emergency like when there is an earthquake or storm coming through town. The carpet was used as entryway as they arrived at their rancho from different places on horseback. This section is all about the animals living on the ranch, specifically horses, chickens and cows.
The horse has four gaits: walk, trot, canter and gallop. Horses are most comfortable in a natural state with their eyes focused ahead at a point approximately 6 feet (2 m) in front of them. They have an equilateral triangle-shaped head with a short muzzle, large nostrils and wide-set eyes that give them excellent peripheral vision. These animals have long legs that are well adapted for speed and endurance. Because of these features, horses can cover up to 20 miles (32 km) per hour for sustained periods of time without tiring.
